about
I am a Pittsburgh-based costume designer, craftsman, and artist for theatre and film.
Since childhood, my strongest connection with the outside world has always been through classical art and literature. As such, I developed a very strong passion for creativity, precision, and aesthetic individuality across all disciplines, including how I present myself.
My inclination towards the gothic subculture functions not just as an aesthetic passion, but also as a personal philosophy that influences who I am, how I interact with the world around me, and how I choose to create art. I strongly appreciate perspectives that reject traditional methods of operation and presentation in favor of alternative and innovative approaches.
In my art, which most frequently spans theatre and film, this means things like experimental genre approaches, technological incorporation such as robotics, and fashion textile techniques. I am very passionate about appreciating the discomfort and beauty of death and decay, and through that contrast, appreciating the beauty and awe of real life. This influences not just the stories and themes I like to explore, but how I interact with the world around me. The acknowledgement and appreciation for the little, the ordinary, and the overlooked are where I find a lot of personal meaning and inspiration. The quiet trust of human connection, the inherent beauty of nature, and the underscoring designs that populate the world around us motivate me to explore as much as I can to further discover everything I can.
I firmly believe that every aspect of the world around us is deeply interconnected, and thus, I find it incredibly important to bring as many interdisciplinary perspectives and ideas to the artistic table as possible. I function not just as a costume designer, but also as a fine artist, a director, a scientist, an engineer, a researcher, a dramaturg, and much more.
I am currently Pursuing a BHA in Costume Design and Film Studies at Carnegie Mellon University
